Male pattern baldness is a condition that usually starts affecting men when they are between the ages of 20 to 45 years. This baldness will then lead to a number of patterns and as a result, hair loss can start from different areas of one’s head. However, the most common type of hair loss usually starts from the crown of your head or temples. Your hair starts thinning at an early stage and progressively continues over time and with time, you start losing hair at the surface of your head.

There are reasons behind this.

  • First, there are those who get male baldness because of genetic factors. There are those who inherit this condition from their fathers or grandfathers. You will find that a family that has a history of being bald, the chances of the sons in that family following suit is high. This is because it is something hereditary, it runs in the family.
  • The other reason is that, you will find that most men are much more predisposed to baldness naturally. This is usually brought about by the hormones of your hair follicles producing a pattern of baldness. Your testosterones are converted to dihydrotestesrones or DHT by an enzyme commonly referred to as 5alpha. DHT and the hair follicles do not interact well hence having an adverse effect on the follicles of your hair. What DHT does is to slow down the amount of hair that is being produced and weaken those ones that are able to produce. Hence, you will have some little area growing in a specific area but it will be weak. Therefore, when you comb it, it will end up falling off your head. There are times that DHT will act in such a mean way to your hair follicles by destroying them hence you will not have any hair growing at all. However, this form of hair loss is normal.

However, this should not mean the end of the world to you. There are some tips that can help you overcome this condition.

  • For a start, you could seek medical attention. Since DHT is known to be the main cause of male baldness pattern, visit the doctor and discuss them on the possibilities of reducing the hormone. Let them give you a drug that will reduce the DHT production in your body. However, this should not be done at the early stages of your hair loss. Reason being that when you arrive at the actual stage when you need the medication, your body will be immune to the drug, and it will not work for you.
  • Secondly, you could change your diet. Make sure you consult your doctor so that they can advice you on what minerals and vitamins that help your hair follicles. Reduce on the intake of such vitamins and minerals. The reason behind this theory is that DHT relies so much on the hair follicles for the minerals and vitamins. This translates to the fact that since they will not be available then DHT will not have a source and will not be able to survive. This will then allow you to have control on your bald pattern.
