Testosterone Hormone Plays a Role in Causing Hair Loss in Men
Male hair loss is a very common problem these days. One of the prime factors responsible for leading to hair loss in men is the secretion of hormones. Hormones play a vital role in keeping body system correct. Before proceeding further, let me first explain as to what is hormone exactly. Well, hormones are nothing but biochemical substances that are produced in the several glands in our body. These glands secrete the hormones into the bloodstream and this in turn has a deep effect on the body.
Testosterone is the main male sex hormone. This hormone along with other related hormones affect the overall functioning of body and are known to have masculine effects especially in the testicles. It is due to this reason that these hormones do not cause any significant change on the body till the time the testicles develop fully during the stage of puberty. Male hair loss is primarily caused due to the over secretion of testosterone hormone in the body.
In fact, testosterone not only plays a role in causing men hair loss but is also known to give rise to a host of other problems such as enlargement of phallus, production of sperms in large numbers , change in the tone, growth of pubic hair, increase in the bone mass and change in the overall structure of body. It also leads to the growth of beard as well as development of pimples on various parts of the body especially face. Testosterone hormone along with other similar hormones such as androgen is responsible for showing early signs of baldness in men.
What happens is that when men are under constant stress, it leads to the excessive production of testosterone hormone in the body. Moreover, if they eat more of fatty foods, this makes their adrenal gland become overactive, thereby boosting the production of testosterone hormone. It is due to the above mentioned reasons that men tend to turn bald at an early age. You must have noticed that people who worry a lot tend to show signs of oldness soon. There will be less of hair on the heads of such men, because the rate of hair loss is quite fast in their case.
Up till now, we have discussed that when testosterone is present in excessive quantity in the body, it leads to loss of hair. But the reality is that even testosterone does not pave way for hair loss, rather hair loss is caused when testosterone transforms into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This change occurs due to the presence of 5-alpha reductase enzyme in the body. Thus, DTH is the real reason but since it is formed as a result of the presence of testosterone, it takes a back stage and testosterone comes into forefront to take the charge of causing men hair loss. Thus, testosterone hormone plays a role in causing male hair loss.
